The larvae of the Varied Carpet Beetle, known as the 'Woolly Bear', feed on wool, hair, feathers, fur, leather and wool-containing carpets / upholstery. This is the most commonly encountered of all the species of Carpet Beetles.
Best placed on windowsills, as adult beetles are attracted to light, this pheromone trap is designed to catch the male beetles, thus removing them from the breeding cycle. There are different pheromones for each species of Carpet Beetle and so, if considering other products, you should ensure that it is specifically for the Varied Carpet Beetle.
The best time to set the traps is in the Spring (March - April) as the adult beetles are most active in the early Summer. A single trap will cover a radius of about 15' (5 metres), and should remain active for up to 6 months.
The pheromone lures, supplied in a protective sleeve, should be kept refrigerated before use.
